This is a replica of the Bacchus fountain sculpture or also known as the Fontana del Bacchino, in the Boboli Gardens, Florence by Valerio Cioli, of Nano Morgante, the court jester of Cosimo I, posing as Bacchus riding a tortoise. La Fontana del Bacchino was the sculpture commissioned to Valerio Cioli in 1561 by Cosimo I de Medici in honor of Dwarf Nano Morgante his favorite jester. A master sculptor A. Giannelli has sculpted a perfect reproduction of the famed sculpture of Bacchus and cast of bonded alabaster and mounted to a genuine alabaster base.
