Small Le Penseur (1902) by Auguste Rodin (1841-1917), Musee Rodin, Paris
French sculptor Rodin's most famous work, "The Thinker" was originally part of a larger work called "Gates of Hell," based on The Divine Comedy; a poem by Dante Alighieri. Instantly recognizable the world over, it has been described as "summing up the spirit of the day" as a monument to heroic labor. Originally named The Poet; the piece was part of a commission by the Musee des Arts Decoratifs. Our statement piece is cast in quality designer resin and finished with a rich, green bronze patina.
