The Little Dancer Sculpture with purple skirt. This 13" Statue is adapted from the Edgar Degas sculpture. Degas study of dancers became an all-encompassing passion to master the effect of light, color and especially, movement. In order to better understand the strength and agile flexibility of the ballerina, Degas began sculpting in clay and wax, a technique that he perfected in later years as his eyesight began to fail. Even when not performing, this delicate dancer appears in fluid motion, blending the fierce pride of a ballerina with sharply defined muscles and graceful control. This Little Dancer statue is a wonderful gift.
